Writing poetry and short stories

I have always written creatively, however, the thing about writing is not only finding your personal style, which comes with time, but I’ve found also its to do with what genre holds your interest, and most importantly the form of that work that keeps you going and fresh in completing a writing project.

For, I recognised early on, when encourage by my English teacher, that although I can read longer length books better than I could write them, personally for me writing should always consist of what your best at, and what can hold the attention of the writer as well as the reader, and then exploit that area to its fullest.

So I will in the future be concentrating on the writing text for the novella and short story writing forms, for which I feel my haiku poetry helps to be concise, in what is said and how, as to still give it all some sense meaning.

And so far I working on outlines of stories, and jotting down ideas for characters and backgrounds, this I feel is the most important stage, even if one hasn’t created the story dialogue, it helps to keep feeling ideas out.

Reading books

I keep my Reading List for books to read by about a year in advance, so there is always a book I haven’t read yet in my home, as priority for me currently is course work material and academic journals.

So if out there on shelves and stacked up in piles are books I haven’t read yet, I will never worry too much about this profound significant fact: that in this world there are even more books published that I couldn’t possibly read in my lifetime, because I know without a shadow of a doubt someone, somewhere, at sometime around this part of the world, or the other, will be reading it for me, on my behalf, and therefore, I take considerable consolation that they have enjoyed it as much as I would have myself if I had read it too, so that pleases me most deeply to the end-note within the leafy pages of my soul. Thank you.

And to go into any further details would require another blog to be created to say who, when, where, whether, whilst and what I felt about them, I feel another future project coming on!! Oh my.
