Cross-stitching (as a creative craft)

My first cross-stitching project happened at primary school. One project was to cross stitch our Christian (first) names onto our PE Kit bag that was made of cotton. As my bag was bright yellow, I decided to do my name in multi-colours, which were bright red, orange, blue, purple and green, and I carried that draw string bag around until I left school.

My second project for cross-stitching when I was at school was a picture placed on a pink canvas of a fish with bubbles, it turned out rather nice, and I was quite proud of my efforts.

So much so, that I’ve taken this pursuit up once more, and have started to make two projects, one from a cross stitching magazine that was given free of a teddy bear at Xmas theme, and for which I’m progressing slowly with, and the other is a student themed cross-stitching pattern.

Again, going slowly with both projects because of all the unpicking if I went wrong as that would mean that’d have to start again, so not fair that they, the engineers of this world haven’t come up with a ‘unpicking stitches machine’ yet, one would have thought they’d been kind enough!!

Although one might have read what I’ve said on my website: ‘Art in Business’ posted page regarding my artistic experience.

So I thought I’d mention here in this section of my blog page an update, as I keep getting told that I should take Art back up, even by members of the general public, as one kind lady said recently that I looked, in her words: ‘the artistic type.’ However unbeknown to those around me that I’ve been keeping my sketch book filled privately…so shhhhh, keep that a secret.

Thus these two leisure pursuits I will take back up after studying, as I already have the equipment necessary; paints, papers, brushes, pencils etc, which I have been buying over a long period of time, when my budget has allowed for spending in that area, as when I have also saved for the necessary items needed, which I think I’ve just about got everything; except for a few small items still remaining on my list, although there’s no hurry, as I can’t afford to buy things all in one go and that aren’t going to be utilised fully, particularly if I don’t really need to use them in what I want to produce, it goes against the grain <excuse pun > of a leisure pursuit.

But for now I have been spending my time drawing in my sketch book and looking at ideas of what I would like to paint and draw as subjects in the not too distant future, for one such purpose is the project of Garden Journaling (for example see videos below).

Until then….
